Enjoy Recreational Art Classes Around Lincoln, Nebraska

Did you know that recreational art classes can encourage creative thinking and reduce stress?

If you would like to take a class, visit one of these destinations near our downtown Lincoln apartments where you can enjoy everything from drawing to making stained glass:

Lux Center for the Arts is a vital resource for the visual arts in Nebraska. It's found inside a century-old building and is a place to view and experience challenging, stimulating art. The exhibitions change monthly and feature the works of national artists.

The center also offers classes taught by the artist/teachers in the Artist-in-Residence program. There's something for all ages and abilities. Try Clay Sculpture. This session teaches beginners the basics of building large sculptures out of clay. Both the materials and firing are included.

ArtGlass is a small, dynamic studio that specializes in fused and stained glass and mosaic artwork. Stained glass has enhanced buildings since the middle ages, and continues to captivate crafters and designers alike.

The classes welcome both beginning and advanced students. One of the most popular is Fused Glass Vase. You'll design a nine-inch tall vase that will be formed and draped to create a one-of-a-kind piece.

The Art Academy Lincoln welcomes students ranging in age from 4 to 84. It opened in 2006 and offers classes designed to inspire imagination and encompass creativity. Teacher Dawn Connelly began painting and drawing in kindergarten. She worked alongside her mother and later earned a master's degree in Art Education.

Dawn demonstrates the art techniques before students develop their own skills. She offers lessons in drawing, pottery, graffiti art, and much more.
